Campaign Roundup - Day 18:

  • The list of candidates has now been finalized. To locate your candidate, visit the Elections Canada website and enter your postal code. You will also find important information about where and how to vote.

  • Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has proposed a "Three Strikes, You’re Out" law that would impose a mandatory minimum 10-year sentence for individuals convicted of three serious offences, with no chance of bail, parole, or house arrest. The policy is part of his broader tough-on-crime platform, which also includes life sentences for human, gun, and fentanyl traffickers, and the repeal of Liberal bail reforms.

  • At a rally in Calgary, Liberal Leader Mark Carney pitched Alberta as the heart of a new clean and conventional energy superpower. He pledged to fast-track projects that enhance energy security by reducing reliance on foreign suppliers and expanding export markets. Carney emphasized collaboration with Indigenous communities, provinces, and the private sector to support both pipeline development and clean energy initiatives.

  • Jagmeet Singh announced the NDP's plan to deliver full universal pharmacare within four years, starting with essential medicines that cover about half of all prescriptions in Canada. Singh emphasized that universal healthcare isn’t complete without medication coverage and called on Canadians to finish the job started by Tommy Douglas.

  • The Green Party unveiled plans for a new Primary Care Health Act to guarantee access to family doctors or community health teams for all Canadians. It proposes fully integrating mental health services, implementing universal pharmacare, and expanding dental care to all eligible Canadians. The plan also aims to invest in healthcare worker training, fair pay, and faster recognition of international credentials.
