Welcome to Day 21 of Canada Minute’s 2025 Campaign Roundup!

With the 2025 Canadian federal election now finally underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.

 



Campaign Roundup - Day 21:

 

  • We’re now into the second half of the campaign, and we hope you’re enjoying these daily updates.   • Election Day is Monday, April 28th, and polls will be open for 12 hours at assigned polling stations. Advance voting will take place from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm from April 18th to 21st. You can also vote early at any Elections Canada office until April 22nd using a special ballot. All of the information you need to cast your ballot is available at the Elections Canada website.

  • Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre announced a plan to support military veterans, including automatic approval of disability applications not processed within four months. The plan also promises easier access to service dogs, faster educational benefits, and more control over medical records for veterans.

  • During a campaign stop in Nepean, where Mark Carney is running for a seat, Poilievre accused Carney of "hiding" after the Liberal leader had no public campaign events for two consecutive days. Instead, the Liberals have issued announcements by news release and Carney attended a Canada-US committee meeting.

  • Speaking of which, via news release, the Liberals announced the Canada Strong Pass, offering free access to national museums, galleries, and VIA Rail travel for children and youth under 18, along with discounts for those aged 18-24, from June to August 2025. The initiative aims to encourage Canadians to vacation domestically amid tensions with the United States.

  • People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier campaigned in Windsor, promoting himself as the only leader offering a truly different approach to US tariffs, opposing retaliatory measures and calling for renegotiation of the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement. He criticized the current government's approach of taxing consumers to subsidize corporations and instead proposed lowering taxes and ending supply management to support business growth.
