Campaign Roundup - Day 32:
- Election Day is Monday, April 28th. To locate your polling place or learn more about your local candidates, you can visit the Elections Canada website and enter your postal code.
- In the final days of the federal election campaign, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has shifted his messaging from aiming to become prime minister to encouraging strategic voting to prevent a Liberal "super-majority." The NDP is focusing on retaining seats in traditional strongholds, despite low national polling numbers.
- Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has pledged to give police and judges more authority to dismantle tent encampments by amending the Criminal Code and allowing charges for violations of public safety. He proposes a housing-first approach paired with mandatory drug treatment and opposes safe supply sites.
- Poilievre also told the Assembly of First Nations that his government would prioritize economic prosperity for Indigenous communities by unlocking natural resource development and ensuring First Nations share in the benefits. He pledged to streamline project approvals, respect consultation rights, and create an Indigenous Opportunities Corporation for equity ownership in major projects.
- Liberal Leader Mark Carney is campaigning in key battleground ridings across British Columbia, aiming to flip seats currently held by the Conservatives and NDP. During a stop in Victoria, he pledged to shield BC from President Trump’s trade actions, citing targeted tariffs.
