Campaign Roundup - Day 7:

  • Campaigning in Manitoba, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre pledged to accelerate the development of the Port of Churchill. He also emphasized the need for a plan to export oil through the port and criticized the Liberal government's environmental agenda for hindering development. Poilievre's commitment also includes honouring previous funding for the port and the North End sewage treatment plant.

  • Poilievre also announced a plan to expand tax write-offs for trades workers, including lifting the $4,000 cap on travel expenses. He also promised to eliminate tax subsidies for luxury corporate jets by changing the Income Tax Act to only allow companies to deduct the equivalent of the cost of commercial airfares.

  • Liberal Leader Mark Carney made his first campaign appearance in Nepean, the riding he’s running in. Speaking to volunteers, he called the upcoming election "the most important of our lifetime."

  • NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh unveiled a plan to introduce an "emergency price cap" on essential food items to combat rising costs, focusing on products like pasta and infant formula. He also proposed stricter regulations on grocery pricing, including a mandatory "Grocery Code of Conduct" and taxes on major retailers' profits.

  • The Green Party said they are ready to make post-secondary education tuition free, while Maxime Bernier, Leader of the PPC, promised to solve the housing crisis with a complete moratorium on immigration and by deporting foreign workers.
